An Introduction to WAMITAB Qualifications
WAMITAB has been working with the waste management industry to develop Scottish/National Vocational Qualifications (S/NVQ) covering operations such as refuse collection, street cleansing, landfill and treatment of waste. The framework below lists the range of job titles for operatives that will benefit by taking up these qualifications. With the introduction of Best Value and other contractual measures there is a drive towards considering more than just cost but also the competence of the workforce delivering the contract. The WAMITAB S/NVQs provide the measure of workplace competence for all employees, at all level. The concept of a competent workforce delivering a contract is not new but now there are external measures that can be used to demonstrate this.
Achieving a National Vocational Qualification has the following advantages:

They provide an understanding of the structure of S/NVQs and the process of assessment and verification;

They provide some knowledge and understanding that can be carried forward to the next Level; and
-
They provide the incentive to progress further, ultimately to the management NVQs, when and where the opportunity is available.
