Three centres sign up to offer the new British Parking Association-WAMITAB parking qualifications
The first three training centres to offer the newly-created British Parking Association (BPA)-WAMITAB qualifications have been confirmed. These qualifications are now available for uptake by the sector through NSL Services; Parking Associates; and Pass Training Consultancy.
In 2013, WAMITAB and the BPA signed a partnership agreement to ensure that professionalism continues to be enhanced and supported by the provision of regulated, quality-driven, occupationally-led qualifications for the parking profession in the UK. WAMITAB was selected to support the BPA as it is the leading awarding organisation specialising in total facilities management with an excellent track record spanning 25 years.
The new qualifications for the parking profession, awarded by WAMITAB and operated in partnership with the BPA, were approved by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) for delivery from 1st January 2014. The qualifications have undergone a detailed review of the units to ensure that they meet the requirements of the current legislation and reflect the latest operating standards within the profession.
The review of the qualifications was undertaken in conjunction with Asset Skills Sector Skills Council, the BPA and parking employers to ensure that they are fit-for-purpose and incorporate the latest regulations, operating principles and sector guidance. The following qualifications are recommended by the BPA and are currently available through NSL Services; Parking Associates and Pass Training Consultancy:
- WAMITAB Level Two Award for Parking Enforcement Officers (QCF) (Ofqual qualification number: 601/1781/3) – this qualification has pathways covering a full range of operational parking enforcement roles on both regulated and unregulated land as well as options covering the different legal frameworks across the four UK nations
- WAMITAB Level Three Award in Notice Processing (QCF) (Ofqual qualification number: 601/1941/X) – this qualification provides essential training for office-based, information management and administrative roles
Chris James, CEO of WAMITAB, said: “WAMITAB is delighted to welcome these three centres on board. They all have valuable experience in both public and private sector training provision, and I am looking forward to working with them as take-up for the qualifications gains momentum. ”
