WAMITAB are now pleased to offer Centres the opportunity to deliver the following qualifications:

  • 600/2333/8 QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Award In Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF)
  • 600/2335/1 QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Award In Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF)
  • 600/2334/X QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Certificate In Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF)
  • 600/2327/2 QCF WAMITAB Level 4 Award In the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF)
  • 600/2326/0 QCF WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate In Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF)

Which Qualifications Should Assessors and Internal Verifiers Hold?

These qualifications have been developed by LLUK to replace the A&V units which expired on 31st December 2010. Assessors and Verifiers who have already achieved A and/or V units will not be required to complete these qualifications, but must ensure that the CPD identified as part of their ongoing training is based on the outcomes outlined within the units of these qualifications. Each new qualification includes a unit that covers all the essential knowledge and understanding that Assessors or Quality Assurance Staff need, plus one or more units that describe Competent Practice.

 

What do previously unqualified Assessors and Internal Verifiers Need?

Assessors
Assessors who undertake NVQ-style, work based assessment and do not already possess relevant assessor qualifications will be required to complete the following two qualifications:
• 600/2333/8 QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Award In Assessing Competence in the Work Environment (QCF)
• 600/2334/X QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Certificate In Assessing Vocational Achievement (QCF)

Assessors who only/also cover vocationally related assessment (i.e WAMITAB VRQ) must complete the following qualification:
• 600/2335/1 QCF WAMITAB Level 3 Award In Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (QCF)

Those new to assessment and hoping to become assessors can take the first unit (appearing in all qualifications) and gain an understanding of assessment principles and practices even before they are in a position to practice assessment. When they are ready to practice they can attempt the additional unit/s.
Others who are in a position to carry out real assessments can undertake all units in the qualification at the same time and, in the spirit of holistic assessment, use evidence from one to meet some of the requirements of the other.


Internal Verifiers
Internal Verifiers who do not already hold relevant Verifier qualifications will be required to undertake the following qualification:
• 600/2327/2 QCF WAMITAB Level 4 Award In the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF)
Internal Verifiers who take a lead role will also need to complete:
• 600/2326/0 QCF WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate In Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (QCF)

In many cases, at least one unit overlaps between qualifications, and therefore the route to achieve competency should be clear and uncomplicated.
